Hospitalists

Hospitalists are physicians and advanced practice providers who specialize in the delivery of healthcare for adult patients who warrant care in the hospital setting. They assist primary care doctors and other specialists in providing medical care to patients while they are hospitalized, striving to achieve optimal outcomes.

To provide holistic care, hospitalists coordinate the care inpatients receive from all other care providers, including primary care physicians, specialists, surgeons, nurses, home care agencies, therapists, and nutritionists.

Our Services 

• Communicate with patients, family members and loved ones about the nature of the patient’s health condition, treatment and management options, and anticipated outcomes.
• Order tests and communicate/explain results.
• Deal with unexpected problems.
• Assure care is going according to plan.
• Facilitate communications and coordinate care with other hospital care providers.
• Manage the care of patients throughout their hospital stay—from admission to discharge—to provide continuity of care.

Hospitalists typically do not see patients in an outpatient or clinic setting. Because their “office” is at the hospital, hospitalists are involved with hospital inpatients, policy, and procedures.
