The Ozarks Healthcare Nurse Residency Program continues Ozarks Healthcare's vision, mission, and values, to provide superior nursing development to reach the program goals.

Program Objectives

Upon completion of the nurse residency program, the graduate nurse will:

  • Transition from the entry-level advanced beginner to competent nurse
  • Develop effective decision-making skills related to clinical judgment performance
  • Provide safe patient care
  • Strengthen commitment to nursing as a profession
  • Incorporate evidence-based science into practice

Eligibility

  • Completion of RN program within the last six months
  • Current RN licensure preferred or scheduled with successful completion of the NCLEX within 90 days
  • Commitment to the residency program including participating in general and specialized learning experiences, finishing activities related to the program, and completing evaluations of the program, preceptors, and facilitators
  • Commitment to Ozarks Healthcare for one year

Precepted orientation with weekly group session/discussion. Examples of weekly focus areas:

  • Clinical ethics
  • Time management
  • Prioritization of care
  • Delegation
  • National Patient Safety Goals
  • Professional development
  • Communications
  • Core measures
  • Patient satisfaction
  • Shared Governance
  • Evidence-based practice
  • Lateral violence

Mentor

Each Nurse Resident will have a mentor. Mentors are committed to the development of the new graduate nurse, be willing to be in contact with the new graduate nurse for periodic meetings, offer sound advice and provide guidance, celebrate successes, and have a positive attitude.
