Dr. Angela King joins Ozarks Healthcare as Vice President of Behavioral Health Services, aims to expand Access to Mental Healthcare
Ozarks Healthcare is excited to welcome Dr. Angela King as the new Vice President of Behavioral Health Services, bringing her extensive experience and leadership in Missouri’s behavioral healthcare space to the team.
King earned her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from the School of Professional Psychology at Forest Institute in Springfield in 2009. She began her career as a clinical psychologist and clinical supervisor before transitioning to administration. Her leadership experience includes engagement with the Department of Mental Health and the Missouri Behavioral Health Coalition, where she played an active role in program development and advocacy for behavioral health patients across the state.
“Being able to work with people from diverse backgrounds and help them through their challenges is incredibly fulfilling,” King said. “I have a deep passion for working in rural communities like the one I grew up in. Improving access to care for individuals in these areas is a top priority for me.”
King’s extensive operational leadership background will be crucial in guiding Ozarks Healthcare’s Behavioral Health Services. Her energy and excitement about the programs are contagious, and she is eager to expand services to better serve the community.
“Clients can’t predict when they will face a crisis, and we need to be able to serve them at their moment of need,” King explained. “One of my biggest goals is to widen our door, so patients can get the care they need, when they need it.”
Her focus will include recruiting additional providers, improving the intake process, and making behavioral health services more efficient and accessible.
Beyond access to care, King is committed to reducing the stigma surrounding behavioral health.
"Unfortunately, stigma still exists, and sometimes it’s due to a lack of understanding," she said. "One of my goals is to educate the community about the services we offer and normalize behavioral healthcare as a part of routine health checkups."
King’s leadership will play a pivotal role in advancing Ozarks Healthcare’s commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to its community. Her expertise and passion for behavioral health make her an invaluable asset to the organization.
