Dickerson Park Zoo Partners with CBCO and Ozarks Healthcare to Host "Go Wild and Give Blood" Drive
Ozarks Healthcare is excited to announce a special blood drive in partnership with the Dickerson Park Zoo and the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO) on Friday, Aug. 16. The "Go Wild and Give Blood" drive aims to encourage blood donations while rewarding donors with exciting gifts.
While supplies last, successful donors who donate at the drive will receive a “Go Wild. Give Blood.” T-shirt and a voucher for two free general admission tickets to the Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield, Missouri, valued at $38.
The drive will be hosted on Aug. 16 at the Willard Hunter Classroom in Parkway Center located at 1211 Porter Wagoner Blvd. in West Plains from noon to 6 p.m.
Across the Ozarks, someone’s friend, family member, coworker, neighbor, or loved one needs blood every seven minutes. The CBCO is the sole provider of blood, platelets, and plasma to over 40 hospitals in northwest Arkansas, southwest Missouri, and southeast Kansas. One blood donation can help as many as three people in these local hospitals.
To ensure a seamless donation process, donors are advised to:
1. Drink plenty of water or juice the night and morning before you donate.
2. Eat a well-balanced meal around 2-3 hours before giving.
3. Bring your photo ID - Photo ID is now required for all donors.
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged to minimize potential wait times at the blood drive. Donors can schedule an appointment at https://www.cbco.org/donate-blood/ or by calling 417-227-5006.
