Neurologist Dr. Willis Courtney joins Ozarks Healthcare
Ozarks Healthcare recently welcomed Dr. Willis Courtney, board-certified neurologist and epileptologist, to Ozarks Healthcare Neurology as a new provider. Courtney joins Dr. Clara Applegate in providing complete neurology care.
“The recent addition of Dr. Courtney to our Neurology practice is a huge asset for our health system and community,” Tom Keller, Ozarks Healthcare President and CEO, said. “We have always been privileged to offer exceptional neurology services to our community. Dr. Courtney’s extensive experience and skill set in general neurology and epilepsy will benefit our patients in receiving the care they need close to home.”
Courtney received his medical degree and completed a neurology residency through the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock, Arkansas. He has completed fellowships in neurosonology at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and epilepsy at United Hospital & Children’s Hospital, St. Paul, Minnesota.
Courtney was previously in private practice in Little Rock, AR, for over 20 years, along with his wife, Pam, who managed the clinic. After deciding to leave private practice, their search brought them to West Plains. A physician friend encouraged them to come to meet the people of West Plains. After visiting the healthcare system and meeting fellow neurologist Dr. Clara Applegate, the Courtneys decided to call West Plains their new home.
Courtney, who is well known for being attentive and easy to talk to, said, “I have a responsibility to make my patients feel comfortable with me. I have been trained to deal with the complexity of practicing medicine. I understand that there are no two patients alike. What works great for one patient may not work at all for another. For that reason, I treat my patients as individuals because they are. The more information I can gather from my patient, the better equipped I am to provide them with good-quality care.”
Courtney can see patients with any type of neurological condition or disorder, including but not limited to epilepsy, seizures, grand mal/petit mal, Bell’s Palsy, headaches, migraines, blackouts, dizziness, vision problems, memory problems, Alzheimer’s Disease, strokes, back and neck pain, shoulder pain, Carpal Tunnel and other neurological conditions.
Courtney is accepting new patients. Ozarks Healthcare Neurology is located at 1100 Kentucky Ave. in West Plains and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A referral is required. Contact Ozarks Healthcare Neurology at 417-257-6777 for more information.
