Ozarks Healthcare Pharmacy brings Flu Shots to Businesses and Schools ahead of Flu Season
As flu season approaches, Ozarks Healthcare’s Pharmacy is making it easy for its community to receive the annually recommended flu vaccine by bringing vaccinations on site to area businesses and schools.
“Especially as our community continues to face challenges with COVID-19, we want to make sure our community remains healthy through flu season,” Katie Mahan, Director of Ozarks Healthcare’s Pharmacy, said. “Our immune systems are being asked to work harder with more diseases such as COVID-19 and its variants on the rise. Every flu season is different and affects people differently. Flu can leave some feeling under the weather for a few days, or it can leave others with bacterial pneumonia, ear infections, sinus infections, and even more chronic medical conditions. Getting vaccinated is the best way to help protect against the flu.”
Businesses or schools that have at least 10 individuals who wish to get their flu vaccine are encouraged to call the Ozarks Healthcare Pharmacy at 417-256-1793 to inquire about scheduling an appointment for flu vaccines to be administered at your business.
The Fluzone High-Dose Quadrivalent and Quadrivalent vaccines are both available through Ozarks Healthcare’s Pharmacy. In the U.S., Fluzone High-Dose Quadrivalent is available to individuals 65 years and older. The Fluzone High-Dose Quadrivalent vaccine contains stronger amounts of antigen, the part of the vaccine that helps your body build up protection against flu viruses, than standard-dose inactivated flu vaccines. The higher dose of antigen in the vaccine is intended to give those 65 years and older a better immune response to vaccination, and therefore, better protection against flu.
“Everyone 6 months of age and older is recommended to get a flu vaccine every flu season,” Mahan said. “If you have questions about which vaccine is best for you, talk to your doctor, or call our pharmacy. Our staff is happy to answer any questions you may have about any vaccine.”
The Ozarks Healthcare Pharmacy is also able to bring COVID-19 vaccines to organizations with 10 or more individuals who wish to get vaccinated. These vaccines are available on a walk-in basis on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. and by appointment on other weekdays through the Ozarks Healthcare Pharmacy, located at 1211 Porter Wagoner Blvd., #18 in Ozarks Healthcare’s Parkway Center in West Plains.
